A federal-compatible Terms of Service (TOS) agreement is required for official government use of social media tools. The list below represents:
- Services for which the agency has signed an addendum to the standard terms of service; or
- Services for which the General Services Administration (GSA) has negotiated federal-compatible TOS agreements that do not require Social Security to execute a signed addendum prior to use.
The Office of Communications is responsible for Social Security's social media governance. As stated in the Agency's Social Media Policy, "Upon request from other Deputy Commissioner components and offices, the Deputy Commissioner for Communications may approve the creation of new social media accounts." Agency employees should consult with the Office of Communications before using social media services for "official purposes" as defined in the Agency's Social Media Policy.
For services not currently used by Social Security, the Office of Communications will assist requesting components through any additional and/or necessary legal, privacy, and security consultations.
